This trip is specially designed for those who wish to discover the extraordinary civilisations of the peoples of Indochina. Your begin in Laos, a small country of tropical forests and mountains with its capital of Vientiane, which lies within sight of the Thai border on the Mekong River, followed by Luang Prabang, which is the ancient capital and home of the former royal family. The second leg of your journey is Vietnam, which has 4,000 years of history, with Hanoi-the capital known for its shimmering lakes, shaded boulevards and verdant parks, Ho Chi Minh City-a young town with a dynamic spirit, Halong Bay-a natural world heritage recognized by UNESCO and the Mekong Delta-Vietnam’s “rice belt” with evergreen paddy fields. Your final stop is Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, with the National Museum having a fine collection of Khmer works of art and the Silver Pagoda, which boasts a floor of solid silver. A special visit is made to the temples of Angkor, one of the world’s great wonders
Day 1: Arrival in Vientiane
AM: flight to Vientiane. Pick-up and transfer to hotel. PM: city tour: visit to Wat Srisaket, Hoprakeo and That Luong Stupa. Sleep in Vientiane.
Day 2: Vientiane-Luang Prabang
AM: flight to Luang Prabang. PM: visit to Visounnarath Temple, Wat Sen and Wat Sieng Thong. Sleep in Luang Prabang.
Day 3: Luang Prabang
Full day boat trip on Mekong River to traditional liquor-making village of Banh Sang Hai, Holy Caves of Pak-Ou. Return to Luang Prabang by boat and overland to traditional hand-weaving village of Banh Phanom. Sleep in Luang Prabang.
Day 4: Luang Prabang-Vientiane-Hanoi
AM: visit to former Royal Palace. Flight back to Vientiane. PM: flight to Hanoi. Pick-up and transfer to hotel. Evening: water puppet show. Sleep in Hanoi.
Day 5: Hanoi-Hai Phong
AM: city tour: Ethnology Museum, Temple of Literature, old quarters and pedicab ride (1 hour) around town. PM: transfer to Hai Phong. Sleep in Hai Phong.
Day 6: Hai Phong-Halong-Hanoi
AM: transfer to Halong. Cruise in Halong Bay (5 hours), visit to limestone carves, off-shore islets and seabathing. PM: transfer to Hanoi. Sleep in Hanoi.
Day 7: Hanoi-HCMC
AM: transfer to aiport. Flight to HCMC. Pick-up and transfer to hotel. City tour: History Museum, Binh Tay Market in Chinatown, Thien Hau Temple and lacquer workshop. Evening: cruise on Saigon River to Binh Quoi Village for folk show and dinner. Sleep in HCMC. [D]
Day 8: HCMC-Tay Ninh-Cu Chi-HCMC
Full day excursion to Tay Ninh, visit to Cao Dai Holy See and Cu Chi tunnels at Ben Duoc. Sleep in HCMC.
Day 9: HCMC-MyTho-HCMC
Full day excursion to MyTho: cruise on Mekong River, visit to local homes and orchards, sampan ride on palm-shaded creeks, taste of seasonal fruit. Lunch of Mekong specialties. Sleep in HCMC.[L]
Day 10: HCMC-Seam Reap
AM: flight to Seam Reap. Pick-up and transfer to hotel. PM: visit to Angkor Wat and watching sunset from top of Phnom Bakheng. Sleep in Seam Reap.
Day 11: Seam Reap
Full day sightseeing of Angkor Thom: Elephants and Leper King Terraces, Phimean Akas, Baphuon Temples and Bayon temple with more than 200 enormous mystical faces. PM: onwards to Chaosay Tevoda, Thommanun, Banteau Kdei, Krovan, Sras Srong, Taprom, and Takeo. Sleep in Seam Reap.
Day 12: Seam Reap-Phnom Penh
AM: flight to Phnom Penh. PM: city tour: Wat Phnom, Silver Pagoda and National Art Museum. Sleep in Phnom Penh.
Day 13: Departure from Phnom Penh
Downtown shopping or at leisure before check-out. Transfer to airport for departure.
