Travel Guide In Can Tho And Mui Ne
Can Tho is the political, economic, cultural and transportation centre of the Mekong Delta . It is also the largest city in the region which is connected to most other population centres in the Mekong Delta by a system of rivers and canals. These waterways and the colorful Cai Rang Floating Market draw interest of tourists coming to Vietnam.
What to do?
The most interesting thing to do in Can Tho is take a boat ride through canals and visit Cai Rang Floating Market. Outside of the town is the stork garden at Thot Not where hundreds of egrets, herons and cormorants gather in the treetops to roost late in the afternoon. Can Tho is usually combined with the trip to Chau Doc , a little town near Cambodian border.
When to go?
Trips to Mekong Delta are suitable all year round but the best time is the monsoon from June to September.
Bring along camera, hat, sunscreen and insect repellant. Should keep your camera in a plastic bag when it is not in use as it is easy to get splashed by the wake of motorized boats.
Mui Ne is along a 22 km stretch of white sands from Phan Thiet to a fishing village at the tip of the Mui Ne peninsula and 220km away from Ho Chi Minh City. It is a popular destination worldwide thanks to lovely scenery of swaying palm trees, clean and blue sea as well as the amazing enormous Sand Hill. Like a gift from nature, Mui Ne with sea breeze and swingy coconut trees is the favorite stop for domestic and international tourist. The romantic landscape here is for those who enjoy their sweet honeymoons, for families and friends to stay away from the busy city life.
What to do?
Popular activities in Mui Ne include relaxing on the beach, golfing at the Ocean Dunes Golf Club, a top-notch 18-hole golf course designed by Nick Faldo and visiting the spectacular sand dunes of Hon Rom or exploring Cham architecture.
Other interesting water sport available are kitesurfing and windsurfing, with the best wind from November to April, and is also one of the few destinations in Vietnam for surfing, with waves from August to December.
When to go?
Mui Ne sees only about half the rainfall of nearby Phan Thiet. The wet season (June to September), rains tend to be fairly light and sporadic. The waves are best from August to December, and the wind is best from late October to late April; so never really a bad time to go.
Mui Ne is small enough to get around on foot or you can rent a bicycle from most hotels
